Replacing front/rear differential gaskets

Hello all,

I am getting ready to do a differential fluid change, i have called the dealership about procuring new gaskets. But they state there are no paper gaskets for differentials. They suggest i use Orange Axel RTV sealer.

Is this correct?

I have a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD 4x4

Yes, Run a line of sealer around the diff cover and completely around every bolt hole.

on the rear diff there is no drain plug so you have to take off the cover.
On the front diff, the drain plug is 14mm

Also make sure on the front you can remove the fill plug before draining the diff.

Also for a greater peace of mind I recommend an 8.25 lube locker gasket for the rear.
