removing front tow hooks

Has anyone attempted an uninstall for front tow hooks. I'm trying to put a bull bar on the front of my jeep but the tow hooks are in the spot where my bull bar needs to go. The way mybtow hooks are set up it seems that I may have to remove my grill to get the hook out.

I'll upload some pictures tomorrow when I have some decent light.

Yep. The pretty bits have to go—grille and bumper cover.

You'll need a plastic rivet gun (and replacement rivets) if you don't already have one. About $15 at Harbor Freight.

I just recently took my front hooks off to paint them. I just removed the lower air dam. Easy. You shouldnt need to pull the whole bumper. Especially on a 2008.

i did this

I have an '08 and removed the tow hooks without removing anything else. I just got in there with a socket wrench and had them off in less than 15 minutes.

I do recall having a small space for ratcheting, but I don't recall it being a big deal at all.

Look up the install instructions for the 4XGuard Matrix- I believe they have the removal instructions for the tow hooks.

I removed the tow hooks and installed the 4XGuard without removing anything other than the air dam.

I removed my tow hooks and installed a Blue Ox tow bar when I bought it new. No problem although the tow bar was a tight fit.

If you'd like to get rid of your no-longer-needed tow hooks and send them to someone less fortunate who doesn't have any recovery points, I'd be interested.

Thanks guys for all your responses. Got the Grill and front Air Dam off today. Very easy actually. The Tow Bars were also very easy and installing the steelcraft bull bar was also not difficult. Thanks for your advice and help.

I was hoping for $100 or best offer. The ones I have are usually $122 on sale at just for jeeps.

I am very interested in selling them, I am just having trouble trying to get part of the attachment bracket out. It seems like where it is, is almost inside the frame or I have to totally disassemble my front end to get it out. I was lost on where to get it out from, but if it get it out the it will be 2 front tow hooks complete with everything you need for installation.

I'll sell you mine- Two chrome hooks, two chrome keepers, and the two brackets for mounting them. I don't have all the nutplates as the Matrix uses some of them. $85 shipped.

If ChiliPepperXJ does not want them, I'll take them. I don't want to step on any toes.
