how would i go about modifying (having modified) my REC headunit to be able to play dvds on the front screen?

where should i start?
any pointers in the right direction would be nice.
i have already consulted wkjeeps.com

I don't know if its possible to do with the REC. There was a company that was modding the RB1 (99-04 NAV units) to do this. I will see if I still have the link, no guarantee though. It was fairly pricey I know that and you still had to have an external player.

I saw somewhere a while back that it cost about $1000 to make it play DVD's.
You'd think it was as easy as running the display wires to a switch and flicking from the REC source to a DVD player.

i am very surprised that after 3 years of the REC in 3 different manufacturers' product lines, no one has discovered a hack yet. in my friends 2003 Caddy CTS, it is as simple as holding down two buttons at the same time.

it is $250 for the mod if you instal it and $400 if you send the rec to them.

then you need a $150 stand alone dvd player.

it is worth it to me - factory nav and still retains all factory features (u-connect).

is there a way to run it to the factory VES? how do you toggle between the DVD feed and whatever is supposed to be showing on the screen?
