question about jeep dash controls?

Hey guys I just got an 05 WK limited and this is the best thing I have every bought. My question Is on the dash there is like a little eye or sensor but im not sure what it really is. I thought it might be an aux port but Its not attached to the radio so Im not really sure. Any idea what this is?

I always assumed it was a sensor for the automatic climate control, but never really confirmed that.

You're talking about the sensor above the rear-window defrost button, correct?

yes it is indeed an infrared temp sensor for the climate control. I partially covered mine with a tablet and the LOW auto just kept crankin out at max because it kept seeing heat infront of it.

It's in the EVIC settings just step through the options and you'll find it - IIRC the option is either 12 or 24 hour lock

sorry I drove my VW to work today; I don't have access to my OM
