Question on 4-low

Tested my 2008 WK off the road for the first time this last weekend at Hollister hills.

Couple of questions ;

1). Every time I put it in 4LOW, it switches to manual mode from D automatically. Is that normal ?

2). What is the difference between the Neutral setting that we can go to using the gear lever between the R and D; and the 'N' which can be set by using a pin or something, near the 4Low lever ?

Thanks!

1. Normal. Whatever gear number shown will be the highest gear that the transmission will shift into. Usually 1-2-3 for off road. Helps to control your speed.

2. The neutral button puts the transfer case inneutral for flat towing. Usually behind an rv or tow truck. Neutral in the shifter just puts the transmission in neutral. Vehicle can still roll away but the transfer case is still spinning. No good for flat towing.
