Popping sound....

So my 2006 grand cherokee laredo is making a popping sound. It only pops once and it happens when I start rolling in 1st gear upon every start. When the car stays on it doesn't pop at all and runs fine. Does anyone have this problem as well? I am a little concerned.

is the pop coming from the front or rear, either side?

Have you noticed if it happens when the wheels are straight or only when turned and starting off?

from what I have see so far it happens when it is straight or turned. it usually pops on a cold start and at around 5-10 mph.

Does it sound like a mechanical pop like something is loose, or an ignition pop from the motor?

like a mechanical pop like something loose. Idk but it sounds like somewhere near the tires or possibly one of the supports for the front diff. but I cant see any damage anywhere tho :/ is there any specific areas I should look?

Here is a thread that I was involved in and fixed my problem. Read it and see if it describes your problem

well I tightened it but it didn't stop the popping. I got a little stiffer steering which I don't like. I went to set it back and the bolt stripped on me. Where can I find a replacement bolt?

Did you use a e-torx socket or a 12 point?

I used a 15mm 12 point, and the sucker got rounded.

usually sway bar end link bushings.. cheap replacement. they should take the knock/pop away.

They were the cause of my issues, only happened when turning or starting off from a dead stop.

Get your hands on the proper tool. You read through the thread I linked you to right?
