PCM Flash for transmission shudder

I recently purchased a 2006 WK 4.7 Quadra-Drive II with 55,000 miles. This past weekend was the first time I drove it for any considerable distance other than around town. I noticed while driving around 40 mph, the vehicle surged or hesitated slightly. After researching this morning I found a link to the TSB 18-004-09 REV B.

I was wondering: Has anyone had the PCM flash described in TSB 18-004-09 REV B performed? Did it completely solve the problem?

The Diablosport tuner has the feature of updating the CALID's for both the PCM and TCM. My 5.7 (same trans. as yours 545RFE) worked the same way. It appears to be a combination of 3-4 (4th being the first overdrive gear) shift and the converter clutch kicking off/on. To me it appears that at around 40 mph it is just marginal RPM and load to be in 4th gear and it wants to "hunt" converter clutch off-on-off, etc. To answer your question though...my CALID's are now the most current (incorporating all applicable TSB's) and it did help somewhat. The problem was still there, just not quite as bad. I then installed the Sonnax line pressure booster, and after the trans. learned that it was there it also helped a little. While learning though it shifted like crap. What I do now is put it in 3rd until it is completely warmed up and then put it in drive. This seems to be the best solution if you don't have a tuner. It will still do it though a little if you're at real light throttle or let up slightly at the 3-4 shiftpoint. The Superchips tuner (I have both) will allow you a little more flexibility as far as trans. settings (firmess/shiftpoints) go.

x2. Also have the dealer check your vin to see if there are any other open recalls on your vehicle. They reprogrammed the ABS system and updated about 8 other modules when I took my XK in.
