P0301 Cylinder 1 Missfire 3.7L

Hell of a way to start the morning. CEL came on after I noticed a sputter in the acceleration. Already searched for solutions cause I don't want to have the dealership giving me a bill for something I can do myself.

Well, first off check/change the plug.
If that doesn't do anything you can swap the coil pack from cylinder 1 with another cylinder. if the misfire jumps to the new cylinder, then you've got yourself a bad coil pack.
If that doesn't do anything, I believe you can do a compression test on that cylinder

That's what I planned on doing. Also heard the dying battery theory so I'm gonna "borrow" the new one from the 05 4.7L too.

I just swapped two ignition coils around and it's running like it always has. Cleared the CEL and it hasn't come back yet. Planning on doing the plugs this weekend along with the oil & filter.

when i had a misfire on my 4.7- i swapped coil packs between the #1 and #2 cylinder and replaced the plug on the #1 cylinder. then i used a can of seafoam through the brake booster line 2 times in one week and that cleared it up. no problems since

Cleared the code on Friday and put new plugs in. So, working great. Changed the oil too so maybe I'll get a rise in MPG.

Any update on whether the fix helped your MPG? I am getting code P0301 and feel like it might be affecting my MPG's.

I figured out the driving condition that was causing my misfire (quick deceleration followed up by trying to accelerate pedal to the floor) and have avoided it. The error code has cleared and I haven't gone through the coil switch because I haven't had enough time. I know it's a bad thing to think out of sight out of mind but I have a lot going on right now. I will be doing the coil swap test in the next couple weekends and post my results.

How did your coil switch test go? In my situation, WK 2010, I assume it will be the coils because Jeep (really Chrysler) went cheap and went from six coils to three putting twice the load on each coil. I would rather pay $100 more for the Jeep than have cheap coils.

After the switch, which will almost be 2 days since. I haven't had the CEL come back on. Which is good I guess but I'm still kind of wondering what that was all about. We'll see what happens in a few days.

Alright, I just got the CEL this morning right before I got to work. Same code though (P0301). What do you guys suggest the next move should be? Injector? Can any of the o2's cause that particular code to come up in the DTC?

I know it sounds simple and stupid, but did you check the plug? I was getting a misfire after I put brand new plugs in and it turned out to be a bad plug (that looked perfectly fine).

I was hoping since I changed all the plugs, it would just be the coil (too easy). I'll check that #1 plug again, would it make sense switching that plug and injector? BTW all the old plugs I changed looked pretty crappy (motor crafts?). I'm glad I changed all of them anyway.

Plug seems ok (switched that plug). I didn't have to chance to check my injectors this past weekend. I'm hoping to do that this weekend. I must say, it's really not running bad at all! I'm hoping it's just a bad injector.
