P code after superchpsi tune

I installed the 87 tune from my superchips tuner last night (first time) and got a P code this morning. Code is P1129; closed loop fueling not achieved, bank 2. What does this mean and should I be concerned?

When I had mine programmed with the superchips i was getting P1128 and P1129 codes consistently. I went through all of the troubleshooting steps and couldn't find a root cause. Since I'm still under warranty I put my stock tune back in so I could let the dealer have a shot at it..... the code hasn't been back since (knock on wood).

Now I Just use the programmer for tire size adjustments.... honestly didn't have a huge effect on performance anyways (I'm very subjective and not easily influenced by the butt dyno)

I don't know from experience but try setting it back to stock clearing the code and starting over

May want to post on the Superchips forum. I remember seeing this code popup there before i believe. Think it might actually say sonething about that code in the Flashpaq's owners manual

Neither P1128 or P1129 was posted in any thread on the superchips forum when I searched. They're not listed in my user manual either.

I would do like 06wkhemi said and reset it to stock and reload the tune. Also you can reset the pcm by grounding out the positive cable for 30 seconds. Have you switched fuels lately? There's a TSB for hose codes when you use fuel with 38-40% ethanol which with winter fuel can happen.

id clear the codes with the tuner and set her back to stock. then try reloading it.

Just found my manual. On page 19 it mentions a P1000 code. My bad.

I agree that you should go back to stock, clear the codes, start it and see if the codes come back. If they do, you could be having issues with your 1/1 and 1/2 O2 sensors.

How many miles on your rig? Have the O2 sensors ever been changed? These codes mean that the fuel management system has failed to switch to closed loop (status 2) after initial startup. On initial startup the system is in open loop (status 1) and should transition to closed loop within ~40 seconds. If it doesn't, it triggers these codes and status 8, which means closed loop was not achieved in a timely manner. I can't imagine the tune causing this though. I've run that tune on my Hemi without issue, but then again, I have fairly new O2 sensors all the way around. I got a 2007 with the 4.7L and nearing 98,000 miles. As far as I know the O2 sensors are stock. I have never had any code before with the vehicle and the reason why I am putting it on the tune. It did throw it after initial start up this morning. I cleared the code on my lunch break today, I will see what it does on the way home. I will also post on Superchips forum.

Sensors should be changed no later than ~100K. They deteriorate over time (like spark plugs), and you may not notice a problem until they get real bad, or fail outright. What causes those codes is that the heaters in the sensors are not heating up quick enough to allow them to start sampling the mixture. Has your fuel economy, performance or idle quality deteriorated from ~20K ago, or so?

Its strange because my mileage has actually gotten better in the last 3k. I would average 16 mpg and change on my daily commute and recently have been averaging almost 18 mpg.

I cleared the code yesterday and filled up with 87 octane to allow the computer to learn me on a single tune. The CEL has not gone off again and its running good. Minimal gains, low and midrange RPM's feels like it has better power.

You should try running 89 on the 87 tune. I've seen the best results going this route.

Twisted is in Wrightwood, Ca, which is at a fair altitude. Don't know exactly what it is though. Twisted??? I am at ~3000 ft. elevation (DA's usually run 4500+) and I can easily run 87, without KR issue, using the DS 93 tune. The only time I put 91/93 in is when I go racing. When I am driving at higher altitudes (above ~6000 ft.) I'll even run 85 without a problem. Rule of thumb is, one octane point less required for each 1000 ft. increase in elevation. Hey Twisted, do you know Bart Inglese?
