Man, what do you do for a living? The craftsmanship is outstanding.

IDK-- I'd almost remove the drawings from the 'net and try to sell the design. Or fab up one more as a demo and sell it to a known fabricator. The work you did here is incredible.

This was very timely as I've been thinking of doing the same thing myself on my XK.
I've got the Matrix w/front receiver and a portable Warn winch, but I don't think my wife is going to be able to haul that winch around the vehicle if we get stuck!
So I've been thinking about a hidden front winch mount.
Great work!

Thanks meep! I am in the Navy. I am not a machinist or anything but I do a lot of precision work with my hands. I have always been good at making things and problem solving.

I am really not trying to make money off of this so the plans are here for the taking. I will be taking the Jeep into a fab shop soon to show to a fabricator just to show it off and talk to him about future projects. There is a chance that he would be willing to build more for those interested! We will see.

I've said it before and i'll say it again... GREAT WORK!!

I will probably try to copy this one day.

There's just one thing that you didnt mention that I would have done. Definitely would drill a few drain holes in the winch plate to allow moisture to escape. Maybe a 3/8 hole near each corner.

I guess I forgot to mention that. The back piece that is 27 7/8"x 1 1/2" was notched at a 45 at the bottom corners and then I didn't weld all the way down into the corners to serve as drain holes. You might be able to see it in one of the pix.

dude... awesome. did you have to brace the two framerails before you cut the crossmember off to prevent any shifting?

I had thought about it but in the end I decided not to. I took a look at the entire area and noticed all the other cross members and brackets including the IFS subframe. I made multiple measurements before and after cutting the cross member and there was no change. Everything is still square and aligned as before.
