Three coats of khaki base coat:

I got all of my paint from Automotive Touch Up:

http://www.automotivetouchup.com/spr...t_matched.aspx

I love their nozzles for all their paints. It is a nice fine spray. For the Light Khaki on my 05 I am using paint code (PJC)!

Looks good so far Nate. I'm curious to see how they look on the Jeep. Did you address "the gap" or are you just gonna let it fly for now?

Since you had them all apart, do you know what the diameter of the projector is? I'm going back and forth with a Morimoto Mini retro fit in a new set of '05 housings, but I'm concerned that after all the work there wont be as much light output as the OEM hids.

At first I was just going to let it fly, but the more I thought about it the more I figured I would take care of it while I was at it.

I thought about doing some retrofits too. My problem that I couldn't get over it that the projector wouldn't be in the middle of the circular lamp. That kind of thing really bugs me So this was the route I decided to take instead!

That's one thing that's been holding me back as well. ****in' O.C.D. lol

I thought about painting the high beam reflector black and mounting the Morimoto in there. They're bi-xenon so they could be my low beams and highs. That way the projector is centered and everything is painted black except the low beam reflector. So you would be left with one round headlight on each side.

IDK, one of many ideas in my head for a counless number of mods for which I have no time to work on. Although I am hoping to do some welding the day after Christmas.

Next was four coats of clear:

And like before I didn't wait for the clear to completely dry before taking the tape off. Now that they are de-taped and dry :

These Aftermarkets confuse me... how are they compatible with the 2005-07's with the rounded bottoms - pre 08 Headlight assembly's have the flat bottom.

Now for the daunting part. Here is what the LED strip looks like:

I wanted them to blend in better, which meant I needed to paint them. However in order to do that I needed to cover all the LEDs! So that is just what I did:

And a comparison between the unpainted and painted strips:

Now that is much better!

Yes that is one of the tricky parts! You have three options:

1. Just get the 08+ headlamps and swap them in and leave the gap.

2. Swap in the new headlamps and make some kind of a spacer to fill the gap.

3. Do a complete front end swap (new headlamps, bumper cover, bumper bracket, grill)

Option 2 is the only realistic one for me. And I don't much like the bumper of the 08+ (I do like that they rounded the headlight assesmbly with bumper though). But with the airdam removed I don't like it. Even so, I'd probably keep my 06 assembly, and make a few adjustments to what you've done, haha. I do have some ideas brewing. But they'll have to wait. I have SA rock sliders to order, haha.

Ya, opening your housings will be the hardest part, but once you get them finished it will be well worth it!
