oil dip stick twisted - normal?

Just picked up a Commander with 20K, loaded with everything after my 99 Discovery with 85K started hemmoraging coolant from numerous places! Merry Christmas!

So far I couldn't be happier, rides almost as good as my STS and I'm a big fan of the 5.7, but I haven't filled it up yet! Hopefully won't be worse than the Disco and has almost twice the power and should run on regular.

I just checked the oil for the 1st time and the dip stick has about 8 full twists on it! Is this normal? Never seen anything like that. Ususally they are just straight or are cable with the tab on the end. I couldn't find anything using the search function.

yep, my 2008 hemi's dipstick looks like a barber's pole it's so twisted.....this is done to allow the stick to move thru the extra-long tube w/o kinking.

Thank you. Thought that might be the case, but was hoping it wasn't a mistake by the previous owner!
