New intake manifold gaskets 2005 4.7L WK
Last weekend I installed new intake manifold gaskets mostly because the old ones were 10 years old and the vehicle is parked outside all of the time. In addition, the fuel trims were creeping up into the teens on bank one and bank two. With the new gaskets fuel trims are now down to the lower single digits. Total project cost $98 for eight new gaskets delivered from Moparpartsdiscounted.
To get to the gaskets a couple of items have to be removed and set aside including A/C compressor, Alternator, Fuel Rail, Coils, Throttle body, Coolant temperature sensor (coolant needed to be drained), radio suppressor straps, and the engine compartment cross brace. Total job took about 5 hours that included a good hour cleaning surfaces for the new gaskets with throttle body cleaner.
My Milwaukee M12 3/8" cordless right angle ratchet, that I purchased when I installed new exhaust manifolds and gaskets, saved lots of time on the coils, intake manifold, and bolts on the alternator, compressor, air intake plastics. On the bigger bolts I broke them loose with a ratchet and then used the Milwaukee ratchet to very quickly spin them off. Pictures below:
