Need help with tires!

This may be a stupid question, but my 08 overland has 18 inch wheels as of right now, i am currently looking to buy new wheels. do i have to stick with 18 inch wheels or could i go up or down? i do have a 3 in HD OME lift on the way. Sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm honestly lost!

17's are the smallest wheels you can fit.

Don't forget backspacing/offset.

Stock is 6" backspacing, many members like 4.7-5" on an ~8" wide wheel. If you do this, you don't need/want wheel spacers like people run on their stock wheels.

What size tire do you plan to run? 255/75r17 is stock on the JK's and a nice 32" tire. 265/70r17 is another common option that is a little wider and not quite as tall. 285/70r17 is pretty much the practical limit for that lift and in most cases requires additional modifications like trimming.
