If you have been keeping up with maintenance, change the filter. There is no reason to stop now.

I had the filter done around 100K and the plug. Doing anything to a high mileage tranny makes me nervous to say the least.

112k since last change. Leave it alone, it works and odds are it will have issues after the fluid change.

If your engine ran fine with a lot of miles on the oil, would you leave the oil in there? No, you'd change the oil and filter! Do the same for your transmission! Why does everyone get so scared over transmission maintenance?

Transmissions function different that engines that why people tend to leave neglected transmissions alone.

Both need clean fluid and filters for longevity.

This is wrong...

The issues arise with improper fluid/fluid level, and Forced flushes. Drop the pan, replace the filter and the fluid in the pan.

A couple more pan drops when convenient should replace all of the fluid.
