How is the RER at handling more powerful speakers and a sub. I know that some decks are better at this than others. Also, is this isntall all plug and play with the factory wires(exceot for the antenna)? I have the REQ unit in my 06 so I don't know if upgrading to the RER is even possible but would I be missing anything?

As far as I know you can install it and you should have the wiring for it but I can't speak of just the head unit being able to handle a subwoofer and more powerful speakers because I have the factory boston amp with the Mopar Kicker upgrade speakers.

Okay thanks. I've been poking around and it looks like the site you bought the lock pick from no longer has it. Is the lock pick needed to operate the GPS and the RER in general, or is it just to do things while in motion?

The Lockpick is needed to get the whole unit working in our WKs since mine is a 2005 and yours a 2006. But that website should still have it for sale. I got the V.3 Lockpick Adapter but they now have V.5 out now.

Looks like the price of the radio is up to $1,950 now, too.

Nope, $1,950 on www.oemautopartsco.com, at least when I pulled it up. That's steep for any head unit.

It's as good as a brand new one since they refurbish it. Mine works perfectly!

Cool, wasn't knocking the used ones. Just didn't pick that up in the earlier posts. I have an REC that I like, but it has a knob on it acting a little wonky. Probably would replace it with another REC or an RER like your install if mine quits functioning.

Definitely go the RER route or even an RHR, they also work on earlier WKs with the Lockpick. They also have a bunch more features including Bluetooth streaming.

Billy, I noticed the RER you got from oem was one for a "xk" (last two letters on the serial).. do you think RERs from lets say a charger or magnum would work in our jeeps? THanks in advance for any insight!

Haha yes they are universal, as long as the unit is low speed. And I actually just upgraded my RER to a Mygig RHR which is the upgrade to the RER but the install is exactly the same. The RHR is much better and it includes wireless Bluetooth audio streaming from any Bluetooth enabled device! Let me know of you have any more questions!
