Misfire - Diagnosis and possible causes?

My jeep just had a bad misfire on my last run for about 5 minutes driving and during idle for about 10 minutes and then seemed to clear up. It threw a code but I cannot seem to get the key on off diagnostic thing to work.
I suspect 2 possible things may have casued it. Today is the hottest day since I had it relearn its idle in winter (95 degrees) Maybe it just had to relearn idle with these temps?
I also had my jeep detailed yesterday and they detailed the engine compartment. Maybe there was some water somewhere that it shouldnt have been?
Does anyone know the correct way to pull the code with the on-off technique?

I would suspect this at first, unless it keeps happening.

Turn the ignition key until the digital odometer displays, repeat three times in succession and then back to "On" (On/Off, On/Off, On/Off, On). At the fourth "On" the odometer will be replaced with codes. If no codes are present then "Done" will appear.
It can take several tries to get it right.
