May be buying a Limited Commander tomorrow

Hi all. Just registered. First post.

Local dealer has a 'new' never titled '06 Commander Limited 4x4. It's silver with rear DVD, Tow Group IV, Hemi, GPS/NAV, Uconnect, OWL tires, chrome wheels. Sticker is 44,435 and they're offering either 0% for 72 months or 10k off.

What I would like to do is start at invoice which is 40k~ and take the 10k off of that.

Does that sound like a pretty good deal?

And I hope I'm not offending anyone who may have paid sticker. I just happened to get into the market and found a leftover. I won't even comment on resale value and how it's gone down the tubes. I paid sticker for my '06 300C SRT-8 so I know all too well about paying for exclusivity.

Thanks in advance.

Dan

Hey, you're not gonna offend anyone by finding a great deal. I'd say go for the 10k off sticker. Even with a 2% APR over however long it'll be a better deal in the long run.

Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Sounds great take the $10K. Sounds like a similar setup to my XK. Thats about what I paid last fall for mine.

I don't believe anyone has ever paid sticker for a Commander.

Dealerships have been giving them away since they came out.

So now that I've had the chance to do some reading, I see a couple of things that people have had issues with.

Stalling 5.7
Windshield noise.

Looks like there's a TSB for the noise but it only applies to the GC. Anyone have this issue in the Commander taken care of?

The stalling issue is dangerous and it looks like it hasn't been nailed down yet. Is this a fairly common issue or does it seem to be just a few based on members here?

Off to do more reading.

Any info is appreciated.

Dan

I've had my XK since Jan '06. Just passed 12k miles. Never stalled in traffic, never had wind noise around windshield. Not to say that others haven't, but you probably hear more from the people with issues than the people without...

I had a few problems with bad electrical connection in the first few weeks after I bought, but since they fixed that I've been problem-free.

Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. I spoke to the service manager on Friday after a test drive and he hasn't had anyone in for either issue. This is a pretty big volume dealership too. Not at all saying they're not legit problems but as you said, a big part of these forums is to air issues and resolutions. If it aint broke, don't post about it.

Going back tomorrow to look at lease options.

Take care,

Dan

Discontinued in '09, but don't let that discourage you. They will still have parts and service for the vehicle even after it's gone.

The WJ's been discontinued for a few years, but that doesn't seem to stop people from buying them.

Not too worried about it being discontinued.

No, we didn't pull the trigger yet. Were going back tomorrow to discuss lease options. We need to be able to leave our two young kids home so were not distracted and that hasn't been possible yet. But, hopefully tomorrow.

Thanks..

I just purchased an 06 Commander and I love it. It looks fantastic, rides great, and it's just fun to drive. I've always wanted a Jeep but needed more room because of my kids. This suits my needs perfectly. I love this Jeep! Good luck with your purchase.
