Max tire size for 2005 jeep grand cherokee

What's the max height tire size I can go with on a stock 2005 grand cherokee laredo without having any scrubbing occur? Currently, I have 245 65 r17. For those who suggest a taller size, what amount of lift could I expect?

Also, if I lower the tread width from 245(what I have now) to 235 (stock), would I see any mpg improvement?

Sup,

Here ya go. This is for the WJ, but it's pretty much the same for us. Change the 16's for 17'' rims.

so 245/70/17 should be just fine? Can anyone verify this config running on a wk with no lift?

First of all, you can't just change the rim size from 16 to 17. That would make the tire an inch taller. You need to change the profile number to compensate and keep the overall diameter the same.

Second, the WK/XK can fit a larger tire than the WJ to begin with.

That size only adds less than half an inch to the radius. So my educated guess would be that your fine

Danno, he has 245/65's too.

Some one , somewhere, in the last year or so posted pics of 265/70/17's with stock suspension. I know there was some minor rubbing inside the wheel well. I guess my point is they did fit.

So if you wanted to stick with the 245 width I would guess you could go as tall as a 245/75/17. Which would be about 31.5" (depending on the tire model) amd roughly 2" taller then what you have now. (Giving you 1" of lift). I wouldn't imagine you'd be anywhere near the BJ bolt or have rub issues. If you added wheel spacers you might have to mod the pinch weld though.

245/65-17 is a stock size. Of course you didn't have any problems

Hi all, im new to the forum. I am planning a 3.5 inch lift on my 2005 grand cherokee. What are your opinions about what tire size and rim i should go with? I was thinking about 31x10.50R17.

I ran 265/70/17 with 1.5 spacers stock. Just had to do the front pinch weld

I don't see why not as long as its a 5x5 bolt pattern.
