Leaking sunroof or windshield

Recently purchased my 06 wk. last night for the first time since I got it we had heavy rain. This morning while driving it I had water leaking from behind the front dome light and from behind the bolt covers on the A pillar. I have noticed that the rubber seal around the windshield is kinked in a few places and I'm not sure if it's related. I'm not really sure where to start trying to fix this problem. Any help is much appreciated

windshield leak

Best way I know t find out if a windshield is leaking:
Mix up some soapy water in a spray bottle.
Turn the defrosters on high with all the windows closed
Spray the soapy water all around the edge of the windshield.
If you get bubbles, its time to visit a glass shop & have the windshield re sealed
Good luck.

Also, it could be that the sun roof drains are plugged, causing water to spill over into the headliner.

Adjust your sunroof. This worked for a lot of folks on here.

7. Place the ignition switch in RUN position.
8. Close all of the doors.

9. Press and release the vent switch (sunroof should move to vent position).

10. Once the sunroof has stopped motion at the vent position, press and hold the vent switch
for at least 5 seconds to recalibrate the sunroof position.

11. If the sunroof did not reach the full vent open position, press and hold the vent switch until
the full-vent-open position is reached then release the vent switch, then press and hold the
vent switch for at least 5 seconds to recalibrate the sunroof position.

12. Cycle the sunroof from the full-vent-open position to the full-slide-open position and back to
the full-vent-open position at least 7 complete times. The sunroof is now in customer mode
with the obstacle detection thresholds updated.

There are lots of ways. If you have access to an air compressor, you could get under the car, find the end of the drain hose & LIGHTLY blow air back up the hose.
Or you could open the sun roof, find the drains on top and again Lightly blow air down the hoses.
OR if you don't have access to an air compressor, feed a length of weed whip line down the drain tubes

Mine would leak quite a bit after going to the car wash. That said after clearing out the sunroof drain, you can do the mod.

Here is a video of what to do > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ud-ny29vBlI

I just cut the tapered part off. Works great, no leaks now.

If your not sure if its the window or the sunroof just pour a cup of water in the sunroof drains
If it leaks or doesn't drain you'll know

my problem ended up being the drain tube placement

It was going above the drain making it so the water would have puddle higher than the tube before it sucked it down, causing it to leak if i made hard turns in the rain as there was water sloshing around not getting drained.
You can check yours through the little hole in the corners with a flashlight

Did they add that later on? Or just for commanders?
On my 05 grand it was just the tube sticking out the end of the grommet maybe someone already did it.

It's on both the XK and WK. If the tube is just sticking out, than someone already did it.

Update on this issue... Over the weekend I pulled half the headliner down to check that the drain hoses were connected, they were. Bulled up the carpets to cut off the tapered part of the hose. And I snaked a wire through the hose to make sure they were clear. Today we got a lot of rain and unfortunately the problem continues. If anyone else has any ideas of what could be causing this let me know please.

Can you tape off the sunroof to seal from the rain, and then check the windshield?
