Jeremyc653 Build thread

So, I believe there comes a time in every wk life for a build thread...
mine has come

B.J. ( before jeep)

It all started just after income tax time. (Feb 2012) My Girl friends friend wanted to buy here Mazda mx6. She would not stop bugging her. I also was tired with the leaky oil two doors with two kids. I convinced her to sell it. she sold it to her for $1800.00. This was an amazing deal. We only payed $1500.00 for the car, but had to replace clutch and passenger side lower control arm. Time to look for a new vehicle. With money saved up and wanting something newer Especially a jeep. I always liked Jeeps, But was never crazy about the interior. We went to go look for a dealership some friends had used. They where out of business. However there was a car dealer next where they use to be. We browsed the lot. She was interested in the rx8 and a Toyota Celica. I however saw a 2005 Jeep grand Cherokee. It had the newer look to her, and The jeep name I wanted. The dealer let us take it for a test drive alone. I pulled out of the lot and went down 5 blocks turned around and punched and feel in love. When we pulled back into the lot we talked to the dealer a little. Left the lot. This was on Saturday. Monday came We made a trip to the bank and gathered the cash. I was looking at a cash deal to make it cheaper. We asked to take it to a mechanic they approved took it got it looked at. When we got back It was time for negotiations. I got them to come down two thousand on the deal, with tax tittle tag. Not to mention but this was Feb 14.

After we got home. I wanted to see lift kits and what they looked like lifted. So I turned to the Google box. I ended up finding a picture of omelets Jeep. ( if that isn't enough to inspire you idk what is) After reading forums I Couldn't make up my mind if I wanted to lower or lift it. I asked some other members on JG. I ended up ordering the RC lift, and Spidertrax wheel spacers. I heard there was a number of problems with the RC lift so I sent them back and ordered the RRO lift. I also ordered some Bilstein shocks. After I received them I noticed they where Identical. I didn't care I Installed the wheel spacers after I received them.

Love the color of them

I still had not received the shocks I ordered them after I already had the lift. They where expected to be there on Tuesday. So we (father in law and I) Started the lift. We first tried the front. Realized we needed the struts. Moved to the back and had them both done in about an Hour.

Rear lifted

The front was defiantly more difficult. We finally got it all finished.

My WK looks identical to yours right now except I don't have my spacers on yet!! Still waiting.... SO are you done or are you going to throw some meats on there? What size are you going to put on if so?

Happy with 255 no way I really want to run 285 Or a 33 inch I will be happy with more aggressive tread. I am happy however with how well it fills up the space from the lift. It does look better. Best of all no rubbing.

Can you fit 285's with your current setup? Any pics with the 255's on?

After the lift I could not reconnect my sway bar. I forget why it was disconnected. The lower control arm threads where cross threaded. So I ordered JKS quick discos.

Installed

I noticed the back step was fading a little. So I decided to bed line it. Never tried it before but Searched from forums and figured it out pretty easy. Someone said they didn't think there was enough grit. I wanted a lot of grit. I figured if I add sand it would be grittier If that is a word.

So The jeep was set up to be pulled behind an rv. This drove me crazy so I removed all of the wiring and parts.

Nope i didnt mention I got a good deal on the moab rims 125$ for 5 and the tires came off my dads f150 when he lifted it. He told me if I can use them I can have them. Might try to sell the old f150 rims and old jeep wheels. That would allow me to do my half way finished mod. ( double din install)
