Have you looked into a TireGate? That or something similar is probably your best bet.

Have you looked at the knucklebone tire carrier? It's not as convenient as a tire gate, but it's cheaper.

Now that looks quality and the price isn't so bad. I wonder if it'll clear the park sensors. I can't even leave my load equalizing drop hitch on without setting them off.

Not sure, but there was another XK guy who originally installed one a while back. You can do a search and track him down. I think one of the pics on that knucklebone site is of his XK.

The Knucklebone is top notch for the price. It doesn't mess with my sensors (I don't know about a XK though) but my license plate did until I bent the corners in slightly. Its stout enough for my 34" tire and because it has a built in wedge that gets tightened inside of your receiver, it doesn't bounce around even while offroading.

I modified mine slightly by welding the bolts in for ease of installation (bolts were provided, but had to be held on the back with a wrench to tighten)

Thanks for the ideas, but i think I have found another way of making a holder by using the base from the 3rd row seating

Sorry to revive an old thread. But I'm thinking about ordering one of these detour carriers.

Obviously it blocks the reverse camera, but can you see anything out of the camera?? Like the bumper at least. My camera is so wide I can see my shackle mount on my hitch. So I'm assuming I'd still be able to at least see my bumper but just not stuff straight back.

That's my main concern. I have two options. Trim my hitch, air down the tire and buy a 12v compressor. Or buy this. Which I think looks pretty awesome, but I with the loss of the reverse camera and blockage of a lot of the back window. It could make driving a little annoying.
