Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland

I currently own a 2006 Jeep Commander with a 4.7l v8 which I love. My brother wants to buy it from me. I have had my eye on GC Overland, I like the two-tone leathers it come with and the chrome rims it has, but don't know what it has that the Limited doesn't. What makes the Overland better over a limited and what year model is the best one?

The Overland comes with just about every option standard.
IIRC, the diesel, engine heater and the rear entertainment system were the only options in the Overland.

The Overland is loaded and when we looked at them my wife did not like the seats compared to her 04 Overland. We then looked at a Limited with 5.7 QD2 and HID lights. As soon as she crawled in this one it was all over. This is our ninth Jeep and I would advise looking at the Overland and the Limited also. Both are very nice vehicles. Not too sure that you can buy a 10 Overland as I heard they are out of production.

I like the WJ's but I want a WK Overland. Something nice to carry me over till I see what the WL is made of in 2012.

The main difference ... the Overland offers Quadra Drive II as standard.

I prefer the non HID lights because they are cheaper to maintain, so a Limited with QD II, the GPS navigation upgrade and towing package offers identical performance.

The interior on the Overland is sweet but the Limited interior is also real nice.

Good luck with your search.

One thing I noticed when checking out used Limiteds and Overlands, the Limiteds with QD II and similar upgrades were almost always less $$$ than the Overland. Just a thought.

I think the Overland models had some additional insulation to help reduce road noise for the 08 models.

I love my 09 Overland. I looked at the Limiteds but was not crazy about the interiors. I was able to get a great deal on it since it was an executive demo and only had 2200 miles on it. I loved that everything came with it and i did not have to make aftermarket upgrades to it. The neices and nephews love the rear entertainment system. If it was not already installed, I dont think I would have added it. One thing I will change when I need new rubber is also get new rims. the chrome cladding is horrible and there is not much of a variety of tires available in the 18" size. Also, the upper part of the steering wheel being wood is a great touch. Really makes the interior look good and feels much better than the leather in my opinion. Just my .02

The higher end Jeeps do appear to have extra sound deadening materials. I noticed a difference in the interior road and motor noise between the 09 Laredo and 09 Limited, both with 4.7 V8. Perhaps the Overland has more. The only down side, some road noise that will filter thru, such as exhaust drone around 2300 RPM, does feel a bit more pronounced when the over all interior noise is reduced.

I could not have imagined anyone would have a problem with the Limited interior. The two tone, dark/light Kahki in our Stone White Limited is beautiful.

The Wrangler JK 17" and 18" wheels, Commander 17" wheels and WK Grand Cherokee 17" wheels, are all an easy upgrade choice to replace the WK 18" Chrome Clad wheels. Although there are not as many tire sizes for 18" wheels, all of the best AT and All Season tires offer a 29.5" - 30.5" tire for the 18" wheel. It's tough/impossible to find a good MT tire below 31" for an 18" wheel, but then again it's advised to switch to a 17" wheel to allow for more sidewall surface when airing down. I have posted some pics of the Wrangler 18" Sahara Gladiator wheels on my WK. I will post some pics here is anyone asks.

I would love to hear some prices paid for the demo Overland Grand Cherokees.

I paid $36,000 for my 09 Overland which as i mentioned before had 2,200 miles on it. It was originally priced from the factory at $48,900. The dealer where i picked it up had it listed at $41,999. Not sure what other JF guys think, but I was very happy with what I got for the money.
