Jaashua's Build Thread

Before:

How it sits now:

History
In a couple of month's I will finally own my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee after 4 LONG years. This is when the fun will really begin. My Jeep is currently stock.I bought my Jeep in March of 2010 with 69,000 miles on it. It is a 4.7 with pretty much every feature you could want. Over the last 4 years I have spent time with many of the common problems. Starter, dash lights, fob key problems. It was also keyed. I'm excited to finally start doing the stuff this Jeep deserves, which wasn't financially possible with a monthly car payment.

Current Mods:
OME HD/QTII
Alpine SWR-1042D
Alpine MRX-M50
CB Radio
PA
Firestik 3'
Phillips HIR Headlights
Hella Yellow Fogs
Superchips3872
SmittyBuilt tow receiver D-ring
ARB Diff Cover
Future Mods

Rust Removal
I had someone "take care of it" last year but he actually made things worse. This time I will be doing it myself.

Recovery mounts.
d-rings

Speakers
My rears are shot. Also add sound damping material.

Fixes
Seat warmers no longer light up.

Welcome! Sounds like u got a plan started. That list will grow longer & longer. Just wanted to say I have had the RC spacer lift in for less than a year and I am already wanting to upgrade to a real suspension lift. (Superlift has been ordered) I would say go with the OME right from the start cause you will most likely wind up doing it anyway and it will treat you a lot better off road.

My shocks and struts were replaced last year. What is the real benefit from the OME over the spacers? There is quite a difference in price.

The spacers are really just additions to your existing struts/springs to give you a couple inches but it puts extra strain on them and also limits travel where the OME is a full suspension that accomplishes the lift. If you just had your shocks and struts replaced though it may not be worth going the OME route. If you use the jeep for mainly highway driving than the RC spacers would be fine to grab a couple more inches hgt. They pretty much ride like stock but a couple inches higher. If you plan on doing a decent amount of 4wheelin then they aren't your best option

I see that you can buy the ome springs separate. Does the lift really required the new struts and shocks? Like I said before my shocks and struts are not very old.

Not necessarily the struts but you're gonna need new shocks. The stock ones will just be too short. It may not ride quite as nice as the whole complete ome package but it's possible. Bora bora has stock struts and 5100 bilsteins out back (with a spacer but that's not nessesary if you don't want it)

Oh sweet! Someone is selling just the springs on the wk facebook group. I'd rather do the lift kit completely but it seems like such a waste of money. The front struts were the expensive part anyhow. A pair of Blisteins ain't bad.

The reviews aren't the greatest, but Amazon is great about returns.

Ordered an antenna, stud, cable and a PA to hook my cb up. Now I just need to make a rear mount or plop down the $40 for the 4xguard one.
