So last year when I lived in Florida I ran 91 fuel on the 91 tune most of the time. It would randomly stall when the rpms dropped to 500-600, not always, just...randomly. I always thought it was a different issue like needing to clean the throttle body, the iac or something. But since I moved back to ky I've been using the 87 tune with regular unleaded with 0 issues until yesterday I decided to use 93 fuel (only octane levels around here 87, 89, 93) for a local cruise and the occasional stop light race. But when I got there I was greeted with more stalling, followed by more stalling and more stalling. It was so bad everytime I had to come to a stop I had to keep my foot on the brake and hold the rpms up to 1k. It would occasionally stall while I was coasting at low speeds. So this leads me to believe that it is most certainly the 91 tune causing issues.
My question is, does anybody else have any issues? Or am I just an unlucky soul? Maybe there is something that needs to be cleaned or changed? I'm open to all suggestions..
Hmm, this has me thinking. I run the 91 Superchips tune. I put on a Fastman TB and noticed some surging while in Park or Neutral. RPM's would drop low then surge up and then drop again. It would do this until it either found idle and stabilized, or it would stall. If I put the Jeep in Drive or Reverse, the issue goes away immediately.
I originally thought it was the Fastman TB I put on so I put the stock TB back on. The issue is still there, just not as pronounced. I have not tried any other tunes. Are you saying that if you use the 87 tune the stalling stops or that if you use 87 octane with the 91 tune the stalling stops?

My issue happens in either drive or park, or coasting at low speeds. And I haven't ran 87 octane on the 91 tune. I'm saying that on 91 tune with either 91 octane or higher is causing the problems
It seems though...that when the ac compressor kicks on/off, that's when it stalls the most
I would not use 87 gas on a 91 tune, especially in low-altitude locations such as FL. That being said, I use 87 w/ an 87 tune, and I have some slight idle surge as well. Nothing serious, as it has yet to stall out or sputter. But I definitely noticed the surge after my SC tune, and didn't notice it before the tune..
I haven't used 87 octane on a 91 tune, just on the 87 tune without issues. But since I've used 93 octane on the 91 tune it seems that I experience the stalling issue
