IPOD and the COMMANDER.

Anyone here use the Ipod for their commander? Any quams with it?

I know I use the A/V to get my IPOD to "integrate" On the other hand, it's not so reliable. According to the manual, it's supposed to initiate the VES if it sense that the Audio L/R are being used (i.e. IPOD) however, sometimes it doesn't detect right away. GRRR....

Anyone else have this type of experience?

I have the same problem....only works intermittently. Sometimes it doesn't work at all...or only for a short period of time.....very frustrating.

I guess my model didn't come with the iPod connector, so how can I have it added?

Greggblue:

The jeep commanders doesn't come with ipod connectors.

You need to purchase one of a few things to get your ipod to play in your commander or car in general.
  1. Tape adapter
  2. FM Transmitter
  3. Aux Input Cable
  4. A/V Input Cable <-- something you can use in the jeep commander if you have VES.

Mine has the VES, but I'm wondering about #3. Aux Input Cable? A cable that plugs direct to the head unit? Where?

I passed on the VES since my kids are teenagers and I'm not a "Soccer Dad"... So what about the AUX input? Is that something that can be added? I'm already using the FM method... I have the GPS/NAV/Sirius head unit.

I use a video Ipod with the AV input on the VES. It worked out really well. I did find that for the VES to recognize it consistently I need to turn the volume on the ipod all the way up.

I use the Fm reciever adapter for my IPOD. I plug it in to the AC adapter and it works great once you find a clear channel.
