Installing Hemi in WK Laredo

Hey guys, I don't know if anyone has done this before (I'm sure it has been done) but I am looking to replace my 3.7 V6 with either the 5.7 V8...6.1 SRT or a custom built hemi from a shop which would probably be a 6.3 liter. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions where I could get this done either Locally (Long Island, NY) or even with online websites. Also what other parts on the car would I need to replace other than the block considering our WK's come equipped for a V8 (from what I'm told). I know I will need to replace the rear axel as well as new tires to compensate the extra power.

That may require more work and money than just trading up.

I am curious though to see what the responses are. If my 4.7 ever died, I'd consider a 5.7 swap.

New transmission, canbus wiring interface, engine mounts, trans mounts, radiator support, trans cooler, most hemis use a hydraulic operated engine cooling fan.

Buy a hemi wk instead. The days of simple engine swaps are over.

X2! If you want more just trade in for a SRT8.

X3...it is possible, but you'd really need a donor vehicle to make it a little easier. Certainly not worth the time and effort though.

You would need the engine obviously, an SRT ECU, and an upgraded fuel system. Im not sure about the differences in the motor mounts, so those might need to be fabed up.
The 3.7L has the same tranny and transfer case, so those arent a problem, you could swap out the 8.25 for the D44 rear end but I dont think its needed.

Your going to spend 2-3 times more $$$ then trading up to a SRT8 and when you decide to sell or wreck it you will get next to nothing for trade in or insurance payout.

If you could do the swap yourself and not pay for labor, and find a cheap wrecked hemi WK you may be able to do it cheaper than swapping vehicles. But you would need to have some experience as a mechanic.

They do not share the same transfer case. 3.7 uses the NV140 and SRT8 uses the NV146. QTII and QDII share the NV245 transfer case.

Not worth it. It's not like you'll start up a rocket ship when you're complete.

Trade your Jeep in and buy an SRT8 because at the end of the day, you'll have the "sportier" interior, and alot more power/options. And on top of that i'm sure a bit of extra dough if you find a good deal. It's just not worth swapping as stated above, it's not like back in the day when a motor swap was common.

TOO MANY COMPUTERS!!

Ugh I guess that's the way to go. I love my truck though, and would've loved it being on the Sleeper side too with a big V8 haha

just find a totaled SRT and swap everything into yours. Itll be pricey but you will have everything. The downside is you will still have a one speed t-case.

You would love the SRT even more. Think about the fun finding the SRT and then think about all the headaches of the swap.
