How much you paying for CRD oil filters?

Been having some interesting chats with my local Stealer's service manager. On top of the usual nothings ever covered by the expensive extended warranty AND the nice scuff mark they put on my rear bumper, I did a little investigation on the price of oil filters. I always knew I was getting hosed on these filters, just didnt know how bad. On previous oil changes I was "used" to getting charged $54ish for filter and 13.95/l for the special elixer lubricant. This last change the price for filter had jumped up to $61.90. So on my way back to the Stealer to discuss these "issues" I stopped by the local MB parts counter and picked up both a filter and a liter of oil. When I showed the Stealer service Manager the MB invoice he was both shocked and embarassed. I can buy the same Mann filter in a MB box for $22 from the MB parts counter that he is charging $61.90 for. He tells me at $22 that is even below his cost. I can also buy the same Mobil-1 ESP that he charges $13.95 for from MB for $11.95/l. His only sugestion was to either get MB to change my oil, which they won't, or buy the filter and oil from MB and for a "small fee" he will change it.......

Good price for the filter, but the shipping charges eat up any savings. Looks like they charge 34.95 to ship to Canada?? Still cheaper to walk into Benz parts counter.......

WIX $7.95 also from Summit Racing. Not sure if you'll get burned on shipping to Canada from them.

Can't go to MB here in Thunder Bay thinking you will get a deal. The local (and only) Chrysler dealer owns it and you have to go to Chrysler to get MB parts. Thankfully, I live 30 mins from the border, so I get things shipped to there. Local stealer was going to charge $125 for a fuel filter, I buddy at work has a CRD also, I got him one for $35 including shipping. Guess I am doing my part to bolster the US economy

for engine oil i buy 5 litre jugs of total quartz ineo mc3 5w30 (MB229.51) from NAPA (brantford, on) for $39.50 +tx ($7.90 litre). actually cheaper than shell rotella t6 at regular price and it meets specs. if you can get it as not all NAPA stores carry it, might be a good way to lower the costs.

i get wix filters for $15

2008 WK CRD Limited 4x4. Every available option package

My pronto oil/air filters from rockauto were around 3.50 each. I know it sounds absurdly cheap, so I ordered one of each to look at before buying more. They look fine, so I bought a bunch.

I bought 8 Mann filters off eBay last year for $8/each. Shipping was only $7.95 for the whole lot. Currently there about about 20 different ads for for Mann filters on ebay - some as low as $8.77

Ditto. They usually also have discounts (email flyers) for 3-5% off in the spring, summer, winter and fall. Art (owner of RM European) is a great guy to work with as well.
