HELP! Front end vibration starting at 35 MPH / 1,500 RPM - Is this a serious issue?

HELP! My jeeps front end appears to be vibrating when I drive in urban/suburban traffic at 35-40 mph @ ~1500 RPM. This occurs under light acceleration. does anyone have an idea what the problem might be? I'm on vacation right now and the thought of getting stranded and/or shelling out major $$$ is nerve wrecking! The vibration sounds similar to driving over pavement rumble/alert strips.

Any help/insight is greatly appreciated and may be a life saver! thanks!!

Edit: this is for a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WK)

Does the vibration go away or gets worse over 40 mph? Did it start happening all of a sudden or it used to vibrate before and just got worse?

I'm pretty sure that it started vibrating heavily all of a sudden but I just drove 1200 miles in the past 24 hours. Any insight you have is greatly appreciated...

My favorite: Frozen mud and slush in the crummy plastic "chrome" clad wheels messing with the balance...

UPDATE:

I needed a fluid change and a software update for my transmission computer. My trans fluid was black. Apparently the shop that I went to originally (not a dealership) did a lazy job. The dealership fixed the problem. It cost me $300....

Guess I'm a little late, but I was going to suggest you take a look at this TSB: http://wkjeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk_1800409b.pdf.

It is a transmission re-flash to fix jerking/hesitation between 35-45mph. Sounds like it might be what they did.
