heat won't shut off....

09 GC Laredo, single zone AC system. The wife turned up the temp on the dial while running the AC the other day, and now the heat will not shut off. The AC still works, but it comes out heated. Is there a blend door issue or something on these things? I'm thinking in terms of my 97 where a blend door could be broken, or stuck in a heat position, but I know nothing about these grocery-getters yet.

I had a similar condition when I bought my 05 Limited recently, always hot air. I found through some quick searches the you can reset the blend doors by setting everything to auto, doing the key dance, and pulling the IOD fuses. I did this and could actually hear the doors moving during the reset. The AC works just as intended now, in fact the wife thinks its too cold now.

Ah, interesting, thanks. Can you direct me to this "key dance" ?

Is it the same as the early Wranglers - on, off, on, off, on?

I have the same problem but the opposite (heat wing turn on) the shop diagnosed it as a broken blend door and they are a PITA to fix since the dash has to come out

I cant seem to find where I found the reset procedure... This key dance is almost the same, but with a few extra steps in between. As I recall, you set both the fan and the temp dials to "auto", then turn the key on (30s) and off; open the fuse box under the hood and pull the IOD fuses up; with fuses out turn the key on for like 1-3 minutes (discharges energy stored in the IOD's); turn the key off; push the IOD fuses back in; then turn the key back on. After the last key on, you will hear the doors moving in the dash. After the noises stop, turn key off, and then start the vehilce, turned on the AC and... BAMM, cold air. Atleast that's all it took to get mine working. Pulling the IOD fuses will also cause you to lose any radio/nav presets.

If that doesnt work, I would check the pressure of the AC system (maybe it needs to recharged). Quick way to check charge is to turn the AC on and listen for the condensor to turn over. If the condensor motor runs continuously, you are probably good. But if it cycles on and off at like 30s intervals, you are probably low on refrigerant.

I have a similar problem and if it needs its own thread I will make one. My AC and heat stays on but no air comes out of the vents. I can hear the blower running under the dash but can't feel any air coming out of the vents.

Edit: I should add this problem comes and goes and turning the fan off for a few minutes seems to fix this issue.

Mine's in the shop, we'll see what they say. I'm convinced it a blend door issue of some sort, but since we have a warranty for it, they'll be fixing it right, instead of me sweating my butt off making work-arounds.
