Has anyone pulled the front drivers seat apart?

I found a set of front seats nearby that are cheap, and of course no photos are available.

My question is, if as I suspect the driver's side is also shot like mine, can the passenger side be swapped in its place instead? Are the seats themselves, minus the controls on the side interchangeable?

Would it be a safe assumption that the newer seats out of the an '08 or '09 would swap into my early '05? They look the same, but one never really knows until you dig into them.

Thanks for any help.

The seat bottom—cushion and upholstery—is identical across both sides. Nearly everything else is side-specific.

On that note, the seat pan that the bottom cushion and upholstery mount to is also side-specific. So have a pair of hog ring pliers and be prepared for some minor surgery.

Thank you very much! So, basically, I would have to pull the cover off the seat is what you're saying, right?

Hopefully it's in decent shape, and I don't have to pull it all apart.
