Had a GDE scare!!! (wasn't the GDE tune)

So I installed the GDE eco tune today. Everything went smoothly after a question about the "GRAND CHEROKEE (WH)" in the instructions which weren't on the flasher, it said "GRAND CHEROKEE (WK)", they are the same thing in case anyone is worried.

So I started the truck up right after the tune, sounded awesome, had more pull, great! Parked the truck in the driveway, go inside and watch some tv. Dad comes home, so I told him I wanted to swap in the driveway because I am going out early tomorrow.

Turn the fob... a click, and no start. Tried again, click, headlights flashed, cluster gauge flashed. I freaked the f*** out, thinking, did I just toast my ECU?

Dad comes up beside the truck, asks whats wrong, I show him, and he's like "Oh, that's the battery". Phew...

After a jump, went to see a friend and had the battery tested. Turns out the battery in the truck could only hold a charge for like, 5-7min or so, things could have been much worse if the battery went out whilst tuning!

Anyways, bought a new battery for it from NAPA. Happy day!

p.s. Fluids for this thing cost an arm and a leg. NAPA guy said Jeep stands for "just empty every pocket", well, when you are talking about fluids, that's the truth! Has to be done though.

Your pretty darn lucky you got through tuning it before your battery died .

If you lose all power while re-writing a PCM map, etc. You can pretty much bank on a tow to dealer.

Agreed. My battery is good, but even with that, I still unplug and disconnect ANY extra accessories. Including radio, etc.

I agree, I make sure I have my blower motor off and everything. Reading a lot of the different TSB's with re programming I notice Chrysler calls for a range of voltage to be on the system during there re programs.
