Grand Cherokee CRD - mornining shutter issue

So I've had a strange occurrence happen 4 times now on my Grand Cherokee CRD. After sitting overnight, I go to start her up and she starts up fine, but then shutters and runs rough for almost a minute and then goes away and runs fine. Anyone else encounter this ? Could it be the fuel filter ? Always purchase fuel from either Sunoco ot Hess with a 42 cetane rating.

I've noticed this in extremely cold weather when it's been sitting overnight without the block heater plugged in, but it would run a bit rough to begin with and would take a bit more to fire up.

I notice something similar if I forget to let the glow plug warm up. Sometimes I forget I have a diesel and I just jump in and turn the key.

As fast as these glow plugs heat up unless it is cold out it will start. I know what you mean. I sometimes forget as well.

Maybe you need to purge the fuel filter. Maybe air or water got into it. It's easy enough to do.
1/4 inch tubing about 2 - 3 ft long and something to catch the fuel. Open the valve, turn the key to on. Let the pump run a few seconds. Close the valve, turn the key to off and you're done.
