GPS Navigation DVD Disc Update

WTFBERRIES - $150+tax+S&H to order a new DVD nav. disc? Are you effin kidding me?

I was thinking like ummm free? Or maybe just S&H? Please tell me someone has hacked this, and I can DL and burn the DVD myself. You can buy the Nuvi 200w for $150 and it autoupdates. Seems like a better deal than paying $150 /yr to get a new disc.

Well Just called Navtech - and the disc actually went up in price. It's $199+tax+s&H

**** that - that pisses me off. You can buy a nice GPS that autoupdates for that much.

On top of the price, it SUCKS. Evidently the guy in pakistan that programmed it had never been to DisneyWorld. the NAV got me lost twice. Luckily the streets were well marked and I didn't end up on the Yeti ride with a jeep.

I have to agree, the updates should be free. The nav only is good to use when you are at a stop to program destination anyway. It will not allow you to program destination while stopped unless you use the voice, and that part seems to screw up every input attempt. Should be free to update this for sure.

funny....I started to start a similar thread a few weeks ago when I was lucky enough to get my "special offer' in the mail. Needless to say it made its way to the trash. There is no way I would ever pay that much for a map update....crazy.

If this is not allowed please delete this post... There are ways around being able to enter a destination while the vehicle is moving also there are ways to "back up" your navigation disc. check out carhack.org for details.
