It should work on any vehicle 1996 and up which is when Onboard Diagnostics Compatibility II went into effect (obdII). Before then, automakers had proprietary diagnosis ports.

Cleaner Oil

OK, I've been waiting two weeks for this post. Since I installed the GDE Tune, my oil is definitely cleaner.

This is not a scientific study by any means. Just a casual observation for what it is worth. Usually when I change my oil, within a day or so, the dip stick looks like black gunk and I have to wonder if I really changed my oil or not.

Two weeks ago, I did my FIRST oil change after my tune. I just now pulled the stick to look and YES, the oil looks cleaner than usual. It is still dark, but definitely not gunky black like before. This rig had 11,000 on it when I bought it and now has 71,000. It has always had the gunky black look until now. I have driven about 6400 miles with the tune but this is the first "Post Tune" oil change.

I'm pleased.

Gunky black you say? I would really like to see a picture. I think my oil always looks the same in this diesel, regardless of mileage. It is usually shiny but black.

Thanks for your comments.

OK, I'm not using correct terms. My former oil was shiny, black, but very very dark. Not "gunky" in the sense of sticky, gooey, or globby. Just very black.

I'm not used to that since this is my 1st diesel and in my 91 sport, the oil remained pretty clean for several months and never got black. I should not have used the term "gunky," its just that I'm not used to oil being so clean and clear when you pour it in and then the next day it is totally black.

NOW, after the tune, it is still black, but it is LESS black and it has been over two weeks now since my oil change.

It would be neato if someone could do a real careful comparison that was more than just "how it looks."

Hey 52233Majic

Do you know if your tune can eliminate swirl motor issues ?

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if somebody has a link with a video installation of the GDE ECO module.
I am taking in consideration an eventual buy of this product but still want to see what I have to expect as an installation process.

Thank you.

Plug programmer into OBD port, follow directions on programmer, remove programmer...drive and smile.
It's pretty simple actually.

Ok, but do we have to attach/plug/unplug or whatever a physical device/module? or is just a matter of software update in the ECU ?

It is just a software update.

Below is a link to the flash tool instructions for the WK. This is a reflash of engine controller, i.e. no chips or add-on devices. Thanks, GDE
