great info, we seem to see a variety of fault codes from owners and it was geting confusing at times to know if it was really a swirl failure or some other issue. The interesting thing I read the other night was that there are sensors on the swirl valve linkage (separate from the swirl motor) that actually tell the ECM the position of the swirl valves. That could explain why there are so many different swirl fault codes.

do any of you guys with the GDE tune do any towing? I wonder about the affect on the engine (good/bad) with this tune while towing.

Decided to get my tune from a local canadian expert who deals only with european engines,

http://www.jrautoelectronics.ca/

Very reasonable price as well and he has done alot of benz engines!

Let me tell you Gde has the crd tune right, I called Keith yesterday morning and told him of the issue of my p2009 code coming back up. Within 5 minutes of my call I had a revised tune emailed to me. It was probably there quicker I just didn't check. What a amazing testament to Keiths character. Keith truly has integrity and a care for customers after the sale. The new revised tune works absolutely perfect, has fixed all of my issues and I am a super happy owner of a great tune.

Secondly to the idiot who complained about the great tune, and saying he was treated poorly over the phone. It must be a competitor trying to drum up business or hurt another man's. I will be gde's biggest promoter from now on as I have seen numerous wk diesels in my area.

Thanks to Keith and all of you great guys on the jeep forum for turning me on to one of my new favorite companies.

Should I get this update? Mine seems to not be having problems. Are there any other fixes in it?

We will be providing updated tunes to current customers next week. There are several different base software versions and I need to update these with the latest before sending out. If your tune is not setting a CEL for the swirl, there is nothing to worry about in the meantime. Thanks for the patience.

GDE Tune

This morning when I started up, I noticed that the engine was definitely louder than before the tune. We are talking slight difference here. It was a diesel type sound, and it lasted for about 1 minute. Not loud enough for my wife to notice, and she usually notices everything.

I told my buddy that works at Napa about the tune and how the mileage has increased. His reaction was.... WOW! That is HUGH! Amazing. Etc Etc. He was ho hum when I told him about the smoothness and extra power, but the mileage really got his attention.

GDE Tune Mileage Documentation

OK... here is the first week of mileage data that show before and after mileage.

This is all IN TOWN driving, semi-rural with speeds up to 60, no jack rabbit starts. Average waiting at stop lights.

To record this data, I used a Garmin Nuvi 2360 and a Garmin Mechanic EcoRoute device plugged into the ships computer. The GME sends actual data from the ships computer via blue tooth to the GN2360 which records the GPS mileage and does the calculations.

As you can see, my first week of driving shows almost THREE mpg increase. That is HUGH, Terrific, Great, etc etc. In addition, you get smoother power and more of it. A little extra noise, not much.

I have not driven far enough yet to do actual fill up data but I'll keep you posted as it becomes available.

Second fill today, this time had a week of town driving, took it easy on the foot, but sometime ya just gotta see what happens then my 400km trip home for the long weekend. Averaged 10.8L/100km, 26.2MPG (imp), 21.81MPG(US), hand calculated, only filling the tank until the nozzle clicks off.
No problems at all with the tune. Just got my revised tune on Saturday, hope to install it tomorrow.
