fuel rail/ system pressure - too low

I am getting the code: p0087. I have found some treads but no solutions that I can find. It is a 2007 jeep grand cherokee CRD. No other symptoms. If someone could point me in the right direction or if there is a tread dealing with this, let me know. Thanks

I got the code again

If someone can direct me, again I would greatly appreciate it. The jeep tripped the code P0087 again and this time the blinking red light came on - electronic throttle Control. It happened when I accelerated to get on the freeway.

Do you have a tuning box ?
Tuning box can trip these codes.
Check your connection with the fuel rail pressure sensor.

I have the Eco tune from green diesel engineering. I will check the connection. But I don't know where it is. Is it on the drivers side?

Some cheap power chips attach to the engine to follow it into providing more fuel, which I think is where Jedi is coming from. As the eco tune is a software remap there is no connection to check.

After I read my post, I realize I don't make it very clear ... sorry - The connection I was speaking about was the fuel rail pressure sensor -

Correct

@Mathetes,
Fuel rail pressure sensor is located on the passenger side fuel rail at the rear. But since you have a tune already, disregard my post about the tuning box/power chip.
See if there is any fuel leakage near injectors. Another thing is I would try loading the ori and drive for a while and see if this trip the code again. You should try this before lauching yourself into further diagnosis. Your code could be anything from fuel rail pressure sensor, fuel quantity control valve, fuel rail solenoid and maybe a clogged fuel filter.

The jeep has tripped the code P0087 a couple of more times. So I decided first to change the fuel filter. So far no codes even with hard accelerations. Must have been a dirty filter though I had changed it about 7,000 miles ago.

found the problem

I wanted to tie this thread up. I kept tripping the code P0087. So I decided to replace the Fuel rail pressure sensor and it fixed it. If any one else trips this code at least you will know what it could be. It wasn't too difficult to replace. If you have any questions, let me know. It cost about $345.00 including shipping.

Glad this is finally over

That is seriously expensive for a sensor.
