There has to be audio playing on your iPod for the system to pick it up it can be finicky sometimes but it should work fine I've been using it like that for a year

I have audio playin from my iPod, and it still won't work. Really frustrated with this one..

Try playing the iPod, then cycle through modes, ending on DVD. Audio should come then.
