First WK purchase

Hey guys I am looking at purchasing a 2005 WK 4x4 (QT-II) 4.7 v8. Has roughly 150k miles. Purchase price is 6500.00. Very clean and seems to be well maintained. I did read the "buying wk forum" but wanted to get some professional "owner" input on dependability, trail riding, etc. Thanks!

Sounds like a good deal! What package is it? Engine, etc...

I have an 06 Ltd w/ the Hemi. Mine is about 2yrs old (to me) and I'm the 3rd owner; It's been great..No major issues so far after 95k total miles (knock on wood). I recently replaced the alternator, but that's not a dependability thing, those just die eventually. As I'm sure you've done, I would just make sure regular maintenance was done.

My Struts were shot at about 80k but I have the OME HD lift and it's great off road.

Not a ton of miles on mine yet, but hope this helps some

It's the Laredo package 4.7 V8. Glad to hear that you have enjoyed yours! I have owned several jeeps but never a WK. Really looking for to putting a 2inch lift with 265s. I am going to pick it up this weekend, will let you know how it goes.

hey 79 I have an 05 wk limited 4.7 with qtII 125k ish miles. I had to replace my shocks and upper and lower ball joints ( control arms ) all was shot. but more reason to get a lift. When you get one go ome just get the springs from kolak on here or where ever you want and do what you want from the shocks. If I could do it again and I might be. Going to get 4in coils for rear and ome hd up front with spacers ( modified ome ) Unless I win the lottery and then Ill go sl. good luck on your wk. keep us updated.

Sounds good, enjoy it! If you have the cash, go for the OME lift. You'll net closer to 3 inches and the ride is fantastic. if those shocks and struts are still factory, they are likely shot

Jeremy, thanks for the input. Glad to hear you have had great success with your WK. I'm really looking forward to getting mine. Have any of you ran across any transmission issues? That's the only thing negative I could find. Thanks for the recommendation on the lift. I will be installing one as soon as I get mine. I will keep you guys posted!

No tranny issues yet I use to get the error when you start to drive from park n push the gas and nothing happens but haven't had it happen in a while. Also make sure your jeep will go into 4low the new recall causes service 4wd system and you can't use 4low

I was reading up on the recall. I will ask him today if he had the work done. If he hasn't would you suggest I wait? Since this is a "recall" I should probably have it corrected. Just scares me since their having so many issues when trying to fix the recall. I will be using the 4LOW pretty regular.

I would wait (and I am since I've refused the recall on mine)

No , I wouldn't get the recall . You can do some more reading around and see the actual recall and make up your own mind , but IMHO that recall is B.S . and if you want to wheel this jeep , and the recall has been done, then you might as well buy a superchips flashpaq right away .I haven't, and will not get mine flashed if i can help it at all .
No huge trans issues other then there have been some poor filters splitting and spin on filters with faulty drain back valves , but the 545rfe is a pretty stout transmission and widely used by chrysler for quite some time .
Good luck , it sounds like a good deal .

Yeah occasionally mine will just not go into gear when I shift. It doesn't happen very often and I'm still under warranty (bought used from a dealership) so I might get it looked at next time I take it in for my complimentary oil change and tire rotation
