First DIY service

Advice greatly appreciated here .....

As my 3.0 CRD is no longer going for dealer service I need a bit of info.

I've serviced cars for years, just never this engine.

Are there any good service diagrams out there ? ( I can't find them )

Is the oil filter a throwaway canister or an element replacement type ? Pics I've found show both..... Confused or what !

How often does the cabin pollen filter need replacing ?

Does the auto box need any top up and or filter change ?

How many diesel filters are there and where are they ?

On this engine, is the diesel line self bleeding , similar to the old 2.7 CRD GC where you could just crank it until it fired ?

Thanks in advance for any answers. I know it's basic stuff that'll become second nature but at the moment a mystery lol.

I have found that you can buy the full factory service manuals (6 volumes)
in paper on ebay for not so much money.

I recommend the paper copies and not the CD's.

They will help you fix anything and have ALL the answers.

Just the wiring info alone is worth the price.

Cheers, unfortunately I've not come across a set that cover the UK spec CRD in any detail. Did get one set on a cd but it was unnavigable

yea no service manuals for the CRD engine either, need a sprinter one

throw away the oil filters here

fuel filter is right under the air intake tube, take a look you cant miss it

search around on here and u will learn lots about your engine

2008 CRD // GDE Eco // DPF delete // 3" intercooler // OME HD // 265 dirtytracs etc.
