Factory stereo replacement, iPod connection?

I have 2006, w/ the 6 disc cd changer. No nav, no aux port. Apparently this isn't a double din, it's a din and a half. So i can't install an in-dash stereo without modifying the current bezel, or buying one online for $130.

My goal here is to have a way to use my iPod w/o one of those FM transmitter deals. And tie a subwoofer in in the future.

If someone has a solution to getting a double din in-dash headunit into the current bezel, that would be great.

Any ideas/opinions are appreciated

You can get an IPOD interface that plugs into the ten pin connector on the back of the head unit.

Dremel. Sawzall. Chisel. Utility knife. Take your pick.

You'll also need some kind of filler and automotive interior paint if you want a really clean install. The knobs are wider than DIN standards and will leave open half-moons around most units. You might get away without if whatever you end up with has a really fat front trim bezel.

I don't know. I would assume. This is the first unit that popped up in a google search. Can be used with RAK, RAQ, and REC head units. It says it retains SAT capability and allows use of steering wheel controls.

Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge iPod Interface for 2004-08 CAN Bus
[CHRY04PCPOD2] $99.92

The CHRY04/PC-POD(2) from Precision Interface Electronics provides direct connection for an iPod and allows control of the iPod from BOTH the factory radio and the iPod clickwheel. The CHRY04/PC-POD(2) is designed for Chrysler's CAN-Bus equipped vehicles, and is only compatible with radios that have the 3-digit code RAK, RAQ, and REC on the front face of the radio. Unlike many other interfaces on the market, PIE's "POD2" line of interfaces retains the iPod screen and controls as well as basic operation through the CD Changer or steering wheel controls of the OEM radio (i.e. play/pause, track up/down, fast forward/rewind). One simple connection provides digital quality iPod sound and charges your iPod at the same time. NOTE: The CHRY04/PC-POD(2) does not display text from the iPod on the face of the radio.

The CHRY04/PC-POD(2) plugs directly into the 22-pin and 10-pin connectors on the back of the radio. Using the CHRY04/PC-POD(2) also retains the factory Satellite radio tuner if equipped.

Compatible with:

Chrysler
300 2005-2007
300C 2005-2007
Aspen 2007
PT Cruiser 2006-2008

Dodge
