Europen WH tail lights...where to get?
Anybody know if you can buy the European version (WH) tail lights here in the US? I think they look better than the stock WK ones. Where can you find these and how much are they? Would they work with the US model bodies? (I have a 2006.)
Thanks.

I believe you can only get those in Europe right now. You'd have to find a retailer over there and have them shipped. $$$$$

Shipping isn’t really the problem, it’s the cost of the lens. I’d be happy to call a friend in England and find out what they’d cost if you want me to. I'm sure the Assuies have the same ones. Mite be a little cheaper coming from them.

I would love to get the european taillamps because I really prefer amber turn signal lenses...much more visible to other drivers.
But there's a problem: the middle light on the WK (the turn signal) is illuminated when the lights are turned on...it's a dual-element bulb that acts as a running light (dim) and the turn signal (bright). In the WH, the middle position is only the turn signal...running light duties are done by the brake lights on dim (top position, just like the WK).
With the way EVERYTHING is computer controlled on these things, I think that putting the WH taillights on a WK would mean flashing something in the computer...that's only my thought...I haven't read that anywhere.

email kolak@aol.com see if he can hook you up
he sells euro headlights for other models of GC, i wouldn't be surprised if he could get you the taillights.

Least of your worries. Its the cost that gonna kill ya. I havn't got a call back from across the pond yet, but I did get news from downunder. Each lens is $630 AUD, thats about $495 USD each. So ya, you can get them, but they are going to cost ya.

I'd also like to have the european tail lights - mainly because the yellow turn signal is safer, but I also like the look of them...
The part numbers for them are 55156720AH and 55156721AH (left and right). I already asked a few dealers in the US if they can order them, but all said they can't as these are export parts. One dealer could tell me the price ($155 each), but also was not able to order them.
I also asked a dealer in Germany - they cost 221Euro each over there - which is $295 (!) at the moment.
I am wondering that one US dealer has a price for them, but couldn't order them...
Has anyone an idea how to get those in the US? Maybe another dealer has more luck ordering them...?

I'd prefer having the WH-Euro type rear lamps too.
But with the Dollar-Euro conversion rate being so bad it is cost prohibitive to buy them overseas.
It is so idiotic that the US dealers can look up the parts but can't order them.
So what happens if an export Jeep gets into a collision over here? I'm sure a zone rep can over-ride this.
Better yet, someone in the UK who has a wrecking yard needs to start puting these (and other desirable) export parts on Ebay.

Assuming the wire harness is the same (it might now be), the lamps are all controlled by the TIPM/FCM. And yes there are XH/WH versus XK/WK settings.

the Euro/Aussie lamps do work on the WK with no wiring etc. There is a guy on cherokeesrt8.com that bought a set while in Europe and they are a straight up swap........I have been trying to get my hands on a set since then....they are hard to find

I would think you'd still need to disconnect the tail light wire from the socket on the middle (turn) bulb. This way it only flashes amber, not illuminates with the tailights.

That is controlled thru the TIPM/FCM Software.

That plus trying to convince your local dealer to flash your computer to make it work. I'm sure they'll say they can't because it has a US VIN number, or that they don't have the WH software.
UPDATE: I wrote to JustJeeps to see if they could get them. Maybe if enough of us do, then they will see a demand for them.
