Engine size questions

I already have a 2007 WK but it is my "wife's" vehicle. Within a couple of months I am looking at getting another one. Right now the one we have is V6 and it is all-wheel drive. It gets on avg. 15 miles a gallon. I want to get mine in a V8... probably the 4.7. I do not want it to be all wheel drive but still 4x4 capability of course.
I suppose I will finally get to the question. Do you think I will get worse gas mileage than I already do in my V6 if I get the 8?

theoritically, yes you will get slightly lower mpg, my guess 14ish city. That is such a low displacement between v6 and v8, I would go V8. I'm getting 13.5 all city with hemi and MDS disabled. If you can't get a 5.7, try to get 08+ 4.7 with the added power. Both are very strong drivetrains.

You will get about 1-1.5 MPG worse in both city and higway with a MDS Hemi V8 vs. the V6.

If its 4WD its ALWAYS 4WD, no choice. Most have 4-lo though, but no option for 2WD only.

If you can find a deal, get the HEMI. They all get within 2mpg of each other. I do like my 4.7 though. I just wish I had the qudradrive II, but I didnt know and got a laredo with qudratrac II.

Go with a Hemi. I have a 2007 4.7L and I must say, the power is a lot nicer over a V6, but from what I've heard the gas mileage is about 1-2mpg between each model. And trust me, you want 4wd, especially if you get the Hemi. It's nice coming up to red lights and some ******* in a ricer next to you thinks he can beat you and your 4wd helps you grip that road while he's in your rear view mirror still squealing and slipping.

Another thing I would also go back on if I had the chance, make sure the 4wd is Quadra-DriveII. My QTII is fine but those lockers make a difference.

Buy a V8 (4.7L or the 5.7L Hemi)........ If you're worried about a gas crisis, remember the 4.7L also runs on E-85.

It can be disabled through a programmer, like superchips unit.

I have a 2007 4.7 and it shows nowhere on it that it is flex fuel.

Mine has a yellow gas cap that says E-85 in black. No other marking on the vehicle. I know they use to put a little "Flex/Fuel" tag on the rear hatch (right side) but haven't seen them on any in traffic recently. I bought my Jeep used so it may have been there and fallen off ?? Who knows ?? Since the fuel cap is attached with a plastic cable I would think it's original too. I wonder if you would be able to tell by the VIN # ?? Maybe someone reading this could help....................

The following is from the '07 Owner's manual:

FLEXIBLE FUEL (4.7L ONLY) — IF EQUIPPED
E-85 General Information
The information in this section is for Flexible Fuel
vehicles only. These vehicles can be identified by the
unique fuel filler door label that states Ethanol (E-85) or
Unleaded Gasoline Only. This section only covers those
subjects that are unique to these vehicles. Please refer to
the other sections of this manual for information on
features that are common between Flexible Fuel and
gasoline only powered vehicles.

CAUTION!
Only vehicles with the E-85 fuel filler door label can
operate on E-85.
ETHANOL FUEL (E-85)
E-85 is a mixture of approximately 85% fuel ethanol and
15% unleaded gasoline.
