Double Din Radio install

I wanna make sure I order everything I need at once. Any tips or ideas are appreciated. I currently have the factory radio. I'm getting a Nav benzel from a friend. What else do I need. I have the factory amp in my Jeep and an aftermarket subwoofer amp. I want the steering wheel buttons to work.

So what I think I need?

And obviously the radio of my choice. Anything else?

You will probably need the bezel- big dome sort of piece that replaces the bezel for the odd shaped stock radio

B2LL2F is correct. I just installed in my 07 grand cherokee and needed antenna adapter like this http://www.amazon.com/Metra-40-CR10-...ntenna+adapter

What radio harness did you guys go with? I'm getting conflicting reports of what actually works with ours.

A harness comes with the PAC adapter. You will need an additional adapter to allow everything to talk to your factory amp. I believe Metra makes one, but most people don't have much luck with it. Normally without that adapter you will lose your sub (which you won't have an issue with) and any fading ability. I went initially went this route but could never get the system to work properly so I ditched it all for a Mygig RER and couldn't be happier. Looks factory and everything works as it should. Best part is that it was installed in about an hour.

Well now this seems annoying. One of the reason I want an after market is for more control of the system. My sub is way to overpowering some days.

Also the Pac claims it retains the factory amp.

The PAC module I had retained the SWC but did not 'talk' with the stock BA amp. I had no sub and no equalizer settings. There's a bunch of info on another site, people either bypassing the amp or running an adapter that would integrate it. Most would bypass it and do a fully aftermarket system as it would be easier than integrating the Canbus system. But then again, I'm no audio guru by any means.

Yeah that's the harness my friend recommended. Although he said I need another Pac product for the steering wheels.

What stereo are you looking at? If it's new enough to support the iDatalink Maestro, using that instead of a PAC or Metra would retain the basic equalizer controls, fade, and the steering wheel controls.

If you're looking at a Pioneer, they claim to support the iDatalink, but it's the same vaporware BS they always pull. That firmware doesn't exist yet. Kind of like the "early summer" CarPlay update, or any other firmware update Pioneer has ever said was coming. You'd have steering wheel controls in the mean time, but the fade and equalizer would be as equally broken as anything else unless/until Pioneer makes good.
