Wrong.

The Wagoneer was the first Jeep to use IFS back in the '60s.

Yes, I know that, but most folks don't. That's why I put 'first' in quotes. The IFS Waggy's back in the 60's failed bigtime. They were only made for what, 3 years? And from what I've read they were very problematic. I've never even seen one of these models. IMHO, for all practical purposes, the IFS Waggy's don't really, well, "count", in terms of Jeep using IFS -- they were more of an experiment, than a major production model.

They were produced in mass quantities, they count.

Most folks don't know isn't really an excuse for spreading misinformation to make the problem worse.

How many were produced, and during what years? IFS on the Waggy's was a complete and total failure, that's why they abandonded the design and went back to solid axles. IFS on the Waggy didn't change the course of Jeep's history. IFS on the KJ did. The KJ may not have been the very first Jeep to have IFS (hey, the Compass won't be the first Jeep car either), but the KJ is the first one that really matters.

So I guess really what i should have said wasn't that the KJ was the "first" to have IFS, but that is simply had IFS, or maybe that it was the "first" Jeep in a looong time to have IFS, or it just marked the start of the conversion of SFA to IFS for most of the Jeep line-up.
