Do you need to disengage transfer case into neutral for towing??

I am a little confused as I was going thru the manual and came across the recreational towing section indicating that you have to unlock the transfer case into neutral, is that true or not? Thank you in advance.

If you're flat-towing the Jeep behind another vehicle (or using a dolly), the transfer case needs to be in neutral.

The only time it doesn't need to be in neutral is if the Jeep has no wheels on the ground.

If you flat tow your rig behind another, you must put the transfer case in neutral.

Yes, that's very much a feature. Many cars cannot be safey flat towed.

Thanks for verifying the info, I wish they would have write the manual more in layman term. Instead of trying to confuse the heck out of the reader. Thanks again :)

4wd must have t-case in "N" and the trans in Park, very important that the trans is in park otherwise you will melt down the trans and t-case.

2wd you must remove the rear driveshaft.

If you spin the trans without the engine running,IE the trans pump working, it creates a lot of heat which will melt the trans/t-case.Seen it happen many times.
