Different kind of lift question

So my question is: does your WK fit in your garage with your lift on?

Currently I have no lift on my WK, the bf has a super lift on his. We live in a townhome, and with the mirrors folded in, mine fits and his doesn't. Our garage is standard size and we will be moving out once our lease is up so this set up is ok for now.

But before I do lift it, I just want to make sure I can still use the garage (any garage). I only plan on a 2 to 3in lift at most. Of course the biggest challenge is getting through the door. We chose this place over the fact that his lifted TJ fit. But max, the wrangler is only 6'2" or so.

Funny you mention this...I looked at a few prospective houses today, and had to cross off two of the four because my WK with OME lift wouldn't fit in the garages! And of the two that it would fit in, I don't think my WK would fit in either after new tires.

A "Standard" garage door is 8' wide x 7' high, I believe that is the most popular size (also the size I have). I recently got new doors put in with new openers. With the old door my WK would just fit with a 2" lift, 32s, and a Rola because the door blocked 6"-8" of the opening. My new doors open completely leaving a full 7' height. I think it was actually the old door openers more then the doors themselves. (The old ones had no adjustment.)

So, basically, unless you have a real low ceiling in the garage, you should be able to adjust the door (or buy a new door opener) so you get the full 7' clearance.

I have a 3" lift, 32" tires, and a roof rack and mine barely fits! If I mounted my rola rack the way it's made, it wouldn't fit, but with the brackets reversed for a lower profile it fits

I will have to measure again when I get home to be sure, but with my SL, 35" tires, and a Gobi rack, my clearance is something like 6'7". I wrote it on a little piece of paper by my gages, that way I know if I can clear a parking garage down town. This however does not include my CB antenna which is a few inches taller than my rack.

Good, I'm still taller than your Jeep!

Instead of putting the rola brackets on top of the factory crossbars, put them underneath. I think buda was the first one to do this and if you search you should be able to find more info on it

Haha, perks of having a slim rack! I just measured and it looks like at the rear of the rack (heighest piont of the Jeep) it measure right at 6'7", so I would say my minimum is 6'8". Also like I said the antenna is still taller at 7'2". If I had to clear overhangs often then I would probably instal a quick disconnect.

Hmmm.. so looks like I'm looking at a smaller lift till we buy a place and/or build a garage. My standard antenna whacked off the crossbeam in ours so much I just ended up buying a short one.
