Hi
You can now get replacement parts for your engine, so if it’s just the con robs and the blocks ok you can get it repaired.
Was up training this week so asked about the intake mod. What they have done is just remove the intake at the bottom of the air box and use round flexible ducting and seal it in the air box and run it around up high and facing the engine. They also told me it has to be in still water and only drive at 4 MPH and keep it at that.
Regards,
Merlin

The engine is out and a piston rod was broke in half! They are now in the process of ordering a new engine. Hopefully the engine ships without too much delay. I would rather they did this then rebuild it since they said this is the first WK CRD they have worked on.

Simply routing a snorkel sounds like a great idea. We dont plan to drive in the water anytime soon! However, for those who may not have much of a choice, it would be nice to have something that could be installed without too much difficulty. To be used when needed.

Hi Merlin:
I'm trying to picture this fix. Is this a permanent re-routing? I'm thinking of the air requirements of a 5.7.

Hi
They said this was on a 3.0 CRD think there maybe different air box on the 5.7 (not a round hole at the bottom of the air box for the air intake, need to check). As for a permanent fix this was done only for the off road fleet and does void the warranty, lol, why? But can’t see why it can’t be permanent just the air will be a little hotter entering the engine.

Merlin

Hi
Yep checked the CRD has a round intake, the 5.7 is not so will not work. The intake does look better on the 5.7 then the CRD so you would have to go deep or faster the 4 MPH to splash up and get in there.
