Diesel owners....How many miles per tank?

Whats your mileage looking like? I drive alot of highway and get about 275 out of a tank. I never run it bone dry so I would guess I have a few more gallons in there when i re fuel but i would like to know the real world diesel numbers. Also has anyone driven a hemi and a diesel? What are your impressions?

The mileage is tempting but I dont know if it will have the same power of my hemi. And boy would I miss that!!

mine only has 1800 miles and I am getting 19.5.
I have only test driven hemi's.
It seems to me the power is very simlar to Hemi maybe more when passing on expressway.

the CRD down side is the turbo lag.

Here is a thread that discusses CRD mileage:

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f67/diesel-wk-fuel-economy-437502/

Shortly before buying my CRD WK, I test drove a 07 WK Hemi. The HEMI has more power, thus has more acceleration. That being said, the oil burning WK has more than adequate acceleration...others on this forum have experience pulling trailers as well. The only way to find out if the CRD is quick enough for you is to test drive, but I would be surprised if anyone seriously considering buying a Hemi powered WK would think that the CRD WK didn't have enough power.

It surprises people when I tell them that my Jeep is a diesel, even when it is sitting there idling when I tell them that. Once they know, they can pick out the diesel sound, but it is so much quieter than diesels that people are used to hearing (3/4 ton diesel pickups, etc)

I don't think you can go wrong getting the CRD WK.

I have 14-16 l/100 km or about 400 km/tank in the City. Never tried yet long enough hway-only driving, but 400 km hway + 15 km hwy offroad brings 13 l/100 km or about 500 km/tank.

hi,

my daily commute is about 8 miles extra urban, not really hwy, than 10 - 25 miles pure city, then 8 miles back home.
evic has shown already 15 l/100 km, but it isnt right number. when i calculate manually how many km i drove on 1 tank, which was last time 79 L !!!, it was 610 km=379 miles on 20,78 gallons. result 18,24 mpg.
when i have to dry somwhere out of district, mostly hwy, and also in city, the best combined fuel economy was 425 miles per tank.
when i was in germany - after tanking and switching the evic to "to the empty", there was 530 miles to empty.
before we bought this wh crd, we imported a jgch from oregon. it was a demo car, limited 4,7L with all possible extras. the acceleration in comparison to crd?
i thing that the power is equal, just maybe diesel benefit from diesel phylosofy, that you have more power at lower rpm and car is more durable. but in comparison with hemi - i think that there arent thinks to be compared on cars with more than 100 hp difference.
but the gas engine - like it more - the feeling, sound. diesel doesnt have it like V8.
but its all about economy - 1 liter gas costs $1,6, 1 liter diesel costs $1,6 and the difference is just in fuel consumption.

Our '07 CRD had about 8200 miles on it when we took it on a weekend trip recently. I "topped" the fuel so I could see it in the filler neck before we left. The speeds were about 1/3 65 mph, the rest 55 mph or less (slowing for towns at 35, 25, etc.). About 250 miles to destination, then a bit of putting around, and 250 miles back. The whole trip was 528 miles and included four cold starts. When we got home, the fuel gage was showing 3/16 of a tank remaining, so I filled it to "visible-in-the-filler-neck" again and got 19.7 gallons in it. This averages out to 26.8 mpg, though the trip computer was saying only 25.3 mpg.
When my wife is running errands around town, the computer usually says 22-23mpg.

We're really relieved at these numbers because when the WK was new, it would only show 20-21 mpg and was replacing an Audi A4 Avant 1.8T that was averaging about 30 mpg of gas.

1analguy my test results are very similier to yours: I drive in a rural type area so not to many stoplights and my Evic generally shows 24-25 avg, although I still have less than 1000mi on the CRD I have taken a couple of short road trips and when running around 65 and driving conservative I have got around 26 mpg.

I try to purchase all of my diesel at my local truck stop that moves a lot of fuel and talked to the manager and have now got to know him to learn about thier fuel, I understand fuel quality is very important.

I always get the standard ULSD, but they also sell a prem ULSD that advertises higher Cetone for maybe .05 more per gal I may test that sometime.

Thank you

Yeah that sounds identical to mine, I filled up yesterday and got 762.6km's(476.6 miles) but that's driving like an old fart around the city, more spirited driving will get me 700km's(438 miles). I cant wait to take it out on a long trip.

yes ist possible. i was really surprised of fuel economy last i was in germany - 3 weeks ago. because my evic always says 18 - 19 MPG when i use my wh daily in the town.
i drove mostly from 80 - 100 mph, the whole trip was 1550 miles. after starting i reseted the evic and i came back with average 26,7 mpg.
there were also some citydrivings but it was minority. i made the whole trip on 3 tanks. from 1 tank i got 560 miles. i think its great for above mentioned spreeds.
the really best i got was on short trip extra urban, when i didnt exceed 55 mph and the evic said 0 km to empty for about 25 km. as i vame to the city i took 7,62 liter of diesel and drove far, and the evic showed 110 km to empty and really did about 90 km!. so i thing it is really super for 3,0 V6
