Daily Cruiser *Build*

Well first off I want to thank everyone on this sight, lots of good info here. I'm new to the WK side of this sight but not new to jeepforum.

So I got this jeep in October (2012) it's an '07 limited CRD had a little over 30,000 miles.

First thing I did was add an AUX hook up. Why doesn't the package with the fancy screen not have an AUX port?

Next thing was to get some better floor mats. I know it's a dumb thing to put on a build thread but I wanted to plug these mats because they are awesome. They're MaxPider, found them on eBay for $80. I've had "cath-all" type mats before but none are this nice. They fit great, don't slide and match the interior like they're factory.

Okay now on to the good stuff.
Got the OME MD lift. "What MD lift on a CRD? The engines too heavy." FALSE. It rides awesome.

Then I did the ol' pinch weld mod.

So to cover it up I trimmed the liner, removed the depth from that hump so it would lay flat.

Then I bodoed it. Ugly but effective.

Sanded it 'till I got bored then painted it.

Then I got some Rubicon wheels on Craigslist. 1.5 in soacers. Then I got a set of 245/75/r17 BFG ATs

And led backup lights.

That's about it so far. I drive this vehicle everyday. About 45 miles round trip in Houston but usually on highways against traffic. I'm also fond of road trips so this thing will see some miles. It will see pavement 99% of the time which is why I went with the MD and the narrower tires.

Next up: window tint, GDE tune, dual exhaust?

I really like how you have the aux cord going through the cigarette lighter. My cord annoys me all the time.

Took it to a local audio video store. They mounted an FM transmitter behind the dash. Don't mistake this for the ones a Walmart, this one comes in crystal clear. I've never had any interference, even in Houston. $110.00

Actually since I have a pretty consistent commute I was going to get some baseline MPG numbers the take the dam off and see just how much it does.

The difference is so negligible it's probably still inside the margin of error for your gauges and not to mention the new tire size.

Really? The difference without the airdam is negligible? I've had mine off for a few weeks and I was thinking about putting it back on to help my MPGs, but if it's not going to help much, I prefer the look of it off.

I definitely noticed a .5ish mpg drop with it off, but I expected that. What really surprised me was the increase in wind noise. Maybe I'm just crazy but I night through it back on to check. Honestly, I think it looks so much better that it doesn't even matter to me.

Anyways, don't want to turn this into a air dam mileage debate but that's a great looking Jeep. Always good to see more CRD owners.

The differences people talk about are typically between 1 and 2+ mpg. Personally, I took mine off when it got lifted, and I never put it back on. It looks more agressive with it off, the more I wheeled it I realized it didn't belong, and I didn't care that it possibly
might make a couple bucks difference at the fuel pump? The bigger tires already made a larger difference and armor was in the plans. The unsprung weight you added with the BFG ATs makes a bigger difference mpg wise than a flimsy piece of plastic under the nose.
